Cardiff Animation Festival

Post by Ojisama » Today, 22:28

Anime films screening at the Chapter Cinema on Sunday April 26th.

15.00 - The Last Blossom. An imprisoned ex-yakusa remembers his past.

16.50 - 100 Meters. Two athletes compete to become top class sprinters.

A series of short films will also be airing from 16.30, under the umbrella title The Best of New Chitose: Japanese Shorts. There will be 7 short films.

"The New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival is the only animation-focused film festival in Japan that has a dedicated Japan Competition, screening films produced in Japan.

"This popular programme offers a comprehensive view of the most remarkable independent animations currently being created in Japan. What we value most are works that express deeply personal creativity, emotional resonance, and experimentation — films that transform new approaches into something truly original. The competition selections embody the very philosophy of our festival, and it is our great honour to share them with the audience of the Cardiff Animation Festival.

"This selection features films from both our Japan and Music categories, primarily created after 2020. From abstract pieces of exquisite sensitivity to boldly structured narrative works, we hope you will discover the distinctive voices of Japan-based independent animators. Among them, Ryo Orikasa (Tamaki Roy – The State of Things) and Hirotoshi Iwasaki (On Time Off Time) are two of Japan's most internationally acclaimed artists."

The Best of New Chitose: Japanese Shorts will also be shown in an "Online Watch Party" on Wednesday April 29 at 1 p.m.
To those just starting on the journey of life I say...
Bang your own drum. Walk your own path. Live wildly. Love fiercely.
As you near the end, look back with no regrets.
