Great day yesterday.
I arrived at the Sheffield AL around 11.30, signed in, got the arm band so I could leave the premises to get some dinner without having to pay to get in again, went for walk round, asked some people for photos and they said no (fair enough, it's always polite to ask rather than point a camera in their face), , then I went to the Bar for a coffee, nice coffee and not too expensive, although the card machine didn't work at first, but she said I could still have the coffee and go back later.
After further walking round, and then I went to Pizza Express in the Peace Gardens for lunch, I went back to the Bar and paid for the morning's coffee, my card worked contactless, it did in Pizza Express as well.
Only problem was I think I ended up losing my mask in the disabled bog at the Pizza place.
Oh well, I'll Google their phone number and give them a call tomorrow to see if it's been handed in.
After lunch, I'd signed up for the gaming Tournament, to play Super Smash Bros on the Switch 2, which I've not played before.. Suprisingly I got through to the second round having come second against 3 other players, I just got my butt kicked in the second round and thus, eliminated.
Oh well, I was glad to play a game I'd not done before and not get hammered in the first round.
Then I went for another coffee.
And went to Costa Coffee in the Peace Gardens/top of Pinstone St to get some tea, a toasted Cheese and Ham sandwich and yet more coffee.
Came back after to the Mercure and signed in for the Cosplay Masquerade, did some dramatic poses with the big red cape, got some cheers which was pretty cool, would've looked more epic with the mask on but never mind.
After the Masquerade, I didn't stick around for the result (I knew I wouldn't have won anyway, lots of competition from more elaborate costumes) and went in "Box" for a drink prior to going to the City Hall for the Fisherman's Friends gig, took me ages to get served in there because it was busy, and the toilets are downstairs with no ground floor disabled facilities (shouldn't be legal that)
I changed out of costume and stuffed it into my man bag.
Which got challenged by security at the City Hall, fortunately I carried it with me and didn't leave it at the venue after the show, it was by my side all night.
Great show, a bit late starting, was supposed to start at 19.00, didn't start till 19.30, some great songs, some of which I knew from songs on YouTube and the Fisherman's Friends films, others I didn't, short break at 20.45, returned at 21.00, second half with equally cool songs finished at 22.00 and I went for a Taxi back to Mum and Dad's.
Got back around 22.35 and said hi to Mum, was offered a coffee but I'd have had to stay up till gone 23.00 to have my tablets so I went straight to bed, I'd been out since 11ish anyway.
Definitely better AL this year than last year, probably best one so far and I've been coming since 2022 so this is my 4th year.
Shame @Ojisama and I missed each other though, would've been nice to meet up.
I don't beee-lieve it!
