Nintendo in particularly has always been very anti-emulation/anti-Piracy, although given that most current gen Nintendo fans can't be much older than about 15, I don't really see how it's a major issue to be honest?

They also don't like their games being copied, I remember back in the late 80s they sued the pants off US Gold for creating "Great Giana Sisters" which was virtually a carbon copy of Super Mario Bros even down to the level design, for copyright infringement, as I recall the ZX Spectrum version was reviewed in Crash and got their top Award "Crash Smash" but it was never officially released due to the lawsuit.
