Passed my Karate grading a few weeks ago (Yon Kyū/4th Kyū) and on top of that I'm finally going to Japan in March to the birthplace of Karate, Okinawa. Hope you're all well.

Well done.

A few years back I made it to 5th Kyu (blue belt) in Karate, before I had to retire due to nasty back injury. Been doing Taekwondo (South Korean form of Karate) for just over 6 years since October 2016, just passed green belt (6th Kup) in September for 5th Kup (blue stripe) and there's the next grading coming next month to hopefully go for blue belt.
I don't beee-lieve it!

Oh wow! I thought TKD would've been more demanding due to the excessive amount of kicking, that being said it seems much more fluid than karate which I feel is very linear. I know TKD has elements of Karate, Shotokan I believe but don't quote me on that, I love the poomsae in TKD too, they look so awesome. What's your next poomsae?

I was hoping to get a grading in before Christmas, but no word from Sunbaenim as yet. I don't think there are enough people ready to grade atm, ao it looks like it will probably be Easter time next year.

TKD is quite physically demanding, especially as I'm a lot older now than I was when I first started Karate, and I'm disabled, for which sir makes no allowances and expects me to go full tilt in all lessons, like I'm doing 2 hours of sparring practice in a bit.
I don't beee-lieve it!

Well I've just got back from a 2 hour sparring session, and I survived most of the full 2 hours, unlike last year when I had to come away after the first hour because wearing the head guard broke me hearing aid.
I don't beee-lieve it!

Was at the dojo last night. Sparring started off OK until I jarred my big toe on one of my friends elbow with a mawashi geri (roundhouse) man that was painful

Ooh! Nasty!

I'd be training myself in a bit, but given that about 2 hours ago I had the runs quite bad, I'm not sure if I'll be in tonight, although I probably should, I owe sir a quid for the mock grading next Saturday.
I don't beee-lieve it!

Awesome stuff. My 3rd kyu (brown belt) test won't be until April/May next year. I'll be doing 3 kata too, Pinan Sandan, Jurokuno and Ananku, plus other things that make up the 3rd kyu syllabus
