Ha ha. Spent most of today asleep, in between loading the washing machine and hanging out wet clothes, and giving Lilly lots of attention. She sure was pleased to see us.

Slowly getting back up to speed with things. Should be fully operational by the weekend.

Had a fantastic Fathers Day. Many thanks to my wife and sons for a great day. I scored 2 bottles of Japanese Whisky, a bottle of Sake and a few bottles of beer. A day out at a Castle with a tournament re-enactment, and then treated to a meal at Wagamama's.

I even had a card from Lily, my adopted feline daughter.

It's been a while.

Off to the Sheffield Con next weekend. Can't wait to see Mel, Grace and whoever else will be there. (Fere? Red Hat? Tech Guy?)

I'll be coming in my "not quite a Bleach character" cosplay on the Saturday. I have an early entry ticket so I get a chance to say hello before it all goes crazy, but I couldn't splash out on a two-day entry. I've been living off my pension since I got laid off in 2020. My son has a two-day ticket, but won't be coming in cosplay as he says it isn't ready yet. (I think it's fine, but he's a perfectionist.)

Since my previous costume has started to fall to pieces, I have decided to scrape together a Vesemir Cosplay ready for next year. I've calculated that it's going to set me back about £300, so it will be a case of slowly does it.

Lily has become a lean mean hunting machine. I think the running total is 5 dead mice. 1 live mouse. 2 dead birds and 1 live bird in the last 3 weeks. Whenever we let her in from outdoors, we have to check her mouth to make sure she isn't bringing anything in.

Ordered the gambeson for my Vesemir Cosplay. I already have the chain mail, so time to move on to the shirt and trousers.

Sheffield Con tomorrow. Getting nervous about meeting the gang.

How has Sheffield been?! I was wanting to go but then as soon as I found out I could go I didnt have any money to book a hotel and all that

I really enjoyed it. I know everybody wants to buy things at a Con, but the only thing I got was a School of the Wolf pendant just as I was leaving. I paid £10 because my son said that his cost £20 off Amazon, and I need it for my next Costume.

I went with the intention of watching and absorbing the atmosphere rather than go on a spending spree. It was great to see the guys doing their stuff. The performances were great, although I was disappointed that the Taiko Drummers and the Martial Artist didn't make it. Next year maybe I'll stay for the party, but don't expect any dancing and singing.

hopefully next year I can make it if it's at the appropriate time of year and I don't have other commitments. Sheffield is the only one close ish to me that I haven't been to. It's been a while since I been to Leeds too.

My gambeson has arrived, and I must say that the quality is top notch. Just need to find a shirt that is thick enough to pad my shoulders from the chain mail.

This is the reference I am using for the costume.

The first time I wear it there will be some "make do" differences but hopefully I will end up with something that looks OK.
