Anime Screenings in Cardiff in April

There will be several anime screenings at Cardiff in the coming days, may of them at the Cardiff Animation Festival, running between April 7 and 10: Many of the events are at Cardiff's Chapter Cinema

Saturday April 2 - 11.20 a.m. Screening of the live-action Ghibli documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness

Saturday April 9 - 11 a.m. Screening of the 2019 musical comedy film ON-GAKU: Our Sound, at the Chapter Cinema, followed by a pre-recorded Q&A with the director Kenji Iwaisawa. Details of the screening are here.

Sunday April 10 - 10.30 a.m. Screening of the live-action Ghibli documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness at the Chapter Cinema, details here.

Sunday April 10 - 1 p.m. "The Z to A of Studio Ghibli," a live 60-minute audio-visual show by the presenters of the Ghibliotheque podcast, Michael Leader and Jake Cunningham, at the Chapter Cinema. Details are here.

Sunday April 10 - 5 p.m. Screening of Summer Ghost at the Chapter Cinema, with a pre-recorded Q&A with the director loundraw. The film is about high school students who hope to encounter a spirit girl at a summer festival. Details of the screening are here.

Japanese short films screening at the festival include the following titles, which are also available on the online edition of the screening.

 "Blink in the Desert," directed by Shinobu Soejima in a Cardiff Animation Nights screening on Thursday April 7 at 6.30 p.m. at the Depot cinema;

 "A Bite of Bone," directed by Honami Yano in a Shorts screening on Friday April 8 at 2.15 p.m. and Saturday April 9 at 12.15 p.m. at the Chapter cinema.

 "Polar Bears Boredom" directed by Koji Yamamura in a Shorts screening on Thursday April 7 at 1 p.m. and Friday April 8 at 12.30 p.m. at the Chapter cinema.

 "NOMINO SUKUNE," directed by Ryotaro Miyajima in a Shorts screening on Thursday April 7 at 4.15 p.m. and April 10 at 12.15 p.m. at the Chapter cinema.
