Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is disappointing in some ways
I've started playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. But I have to say, I'm so disappointed in the story mode. Immensely disappointed. Sure, the world map is cool. But I still feel like the Wii version, Brawl, had a much better story mode. I loved all the cutscenes, and how they helped tell the story, and the emotions the characters conveyed. And while I understand the point of Smash Bros. are to be fighting games, the sidescrolling, platforming levels of Brawl was just so fun and enjoyable compared to the arena battles of Ultimate. I especially liked the labyrinth at the end of Brawl. The story mode of Ultimate feels weak. I much prefer the Subscape Emissary Storyline of Brawl. Yeah, I'm not fond of World of Light. Does anyone else feel similar?

Ultimate is great for the multiplayer party experience, but it is tragic for the single player experience. I understand that the SE cutscenes were incredibly time consuming so I understand that they couldn’t replicate that (as much as I adored them) to accommodate for all the time programming new characters and items, but imo there’s no excuse for making world of light as one dimensional as it is. The unlocking characters is great, but I’d prefer if it followed SE and there were different groups of characters rather than just gathering a large pool. I also think Tabuu was a far more interesting boss battle tooJongriffin wrote: ↑01 Feb 2022, 19:27I've started playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I can't say that I hate Ultimate. I still overall enjoy it. And I understand that the Smash series are meant to be fighting games and not platformers. I guess that the story-mode of Brawl spoiled me. I loved the platforming element of it with the Subspace Emissary storyline, especially at the end, with the labyrinth to explore. The fighting each player on a map in Ultimate isn't much different than classic Smash. Brawl was so unique.

Overall I didn't mind World of Light but yeah, it was kind of a letdown compared to Subspace. The best part of WoL however WAS when

Nah I agree. I do struggle to sit down with the single player in Ultimate, but I still love it as a fighterJongriffin wrote: ↑04 Feb 2022, 15:53GraceMellody wrote: ↑03 Feb 2022, 23:40
