Yeah Linux is the kernel, but Redhat and Ubuntu and SUSE and Deb and all of those are OSes which use the Linux kernel.

I dislike apple os strongly.
For most tasks I just prefer windows.
But for programming or for performing repetitive tasks nothing beats a Linux box.
Usually (but not always) less bloated up too.
