I've played pathfinder, but not as much as 3.5

I'm actually a big fan of 3.5, that said I use rules from pathfinder over those in 3.5 because they are just better rules.

They made it a little cleaner without messing it up.

Indeed. There are some things I don't like about Pathfinder though.

3.0 was all messed up.

I have a ton of books for 3.5

It's good enough that I don't feel like in getting the new books.

Well 2E is what i am running on the Discord game, 5E is ok but for me i feel that it has been simplified so newbies can learn it easier. All true dnd players dont talk about 4E! 3 and 3.5 are ok but somewhat OP in respect of feats and such

Feats in most cases aren't all that useful. Skills, magic, magic items, and class special abilities are OP.

The feats can be useful sure, but the others can always be used to trump the ability feats normally give.

I couldn't say much about 5.0 though. I'm not familiar enough with it, but I do know of I'm in the same opinion it's for new players.

This means if the players are familiar with how to play 3.5, a Fighter is the absolutely weakest and most pathetic class you can choose. There advantage, a lot of feats, and that's it.

I do enjoy using the THACO system because it confuses people but as long as you have the relevant tables it works fine. For initiative i prefer to re-roll every round as combat is random so why would you go on the same number every round

That's how it's suppose to work in 3.5. A reroll of initiative for every round. Is it different for 5.0. I know most players ignored this and simply kept the same initiative.

My players like just rolling initiative once, I'm okay with this. I'm not a stickler for the combat to be completely realistic.

THACO is great, it beats the modern way of doing AC and HIT for D&D. I didn't need a table for long to get how it worked and was modified. I do miss THACO. A lot though had a hard time with it.

Saying that, that was when I played 2nd Edition regularly. Been awhile now. I'd need get familiar with the system again.

@Rodstaff

How does work? On discord?

Do you and your players have a specific meet up time, or is just whenever they have time to post? How do you do characters? Do you roll for characters or is there something that does that?
If there is a specific time what days and time is it generally?

We usually play on Sundays and Wednesdays and sometimes on Mondays if people are available from 12pm till about 5ish (or longer if we can!) The players have rolled their characters and we link up in the chat and by video. There is a dice roller bot that can be used or you can use your own dice and it is a trust factor with my players. If you and some friends were interested in playing i could run a game for you

Those times don't fit my schedule at all. But I'm sure they fit the schedule of others. Here I was thinking it'd be fun to play 2nd edition again.
