Ahh yeah it was KoF4 I think for PS2. I still have it of course.
I think the rarest game I have for gamecube is that RPG one where he has a massive mechanical fist on his back

Thats the one. Yes. I never finished it I think. But I played it after I finished Skies of Arcadia which was also fun.

Yeah Evolution would be pretty underwhelming after Skies of Arcadia.

Yeah. Which in fairness was one of the better JRPG bandwagons at least.

Yeah true. There was a lot of random dungeon stuff as I recall.... between the scripted parts in Evo Worlds.
SoA had a really distinct identity. I think JRPGS should look more closely at it instead of bombarding so many people with additional informtation right at the beginning.
(I have never played an Agerest game for more than an hour. I just get bored)

A million times better than Naruto/Bleach.
Interesting how at one point if I remember correctly Naruto/Black/Rouroni Kenshin were what everyone was into.

Yeah, that'd be nice. Unfortunately all anyone wants to draw inspiration from is SNES JRPGs. Which, I mean, were great and all. But unfortunately the modern stuff has largely been mediocre crap like Bravely Default, I Am Setsuna and Octopath Traveler.

Basically pandering to nostalgia without understanding why people liked those games to begin with.
Granted, the same thing could happen with modern SoA inspired games.
