Can we Stop with the Corona crap!
Can we Stop with the Corona crap!
Seriously it's depressing.
It's on the news all the time.
It was even suggested I make a werewolf game alternative based on it.
Sure at first it seemed like a good idea. But it's Corona, Corona, Corona, everywhere.
I'm tired of Corona, so I'm not making a TWG based on Corona.
I don't care how much others might want it and the fact that I could make it.
Corona is here, sure, and you and I can't change that.
Still what we should and can do is celebrate life, because we still have it even if were affected.
I'm not, haven't been, but even those that have, making the most of our life and theirs should be our most foremost thought.
Not to live in fear, not to be suppress, but to thrive and to celebrate our lives and those who have who have lost theirs.
For what is the point of their sacrifice, our sacrifice if don't make the most of what we still have and will have?

Every company on the planet deciding that they needed to make a commercial about it has certainly gotten sickening.
Re: Can we Stop with the Corona crap!
Below is my personal point of view and it might not apply to other people.
I have a solution which works for me for this and other issues as well (although I need to use it more).
It's about not watching TV and limiting one's exposure to the media. One can ask themself a question which media they REALLY need? And a person can choose media which only show few ads or ones for which one can install an ad-blocker and which focus on things that the person is interested in. And if one needs a general news source, one can just e.g. watch/read news once a day to get the idea. Or just buy a paper newspaper. One can ignore most of the news as they are not really relevant. E.g. celebrity stories, many world news, many political news etc. are not really relevant for most people's lives. The important things which one should know (e.g. for the purpose of knowledgeably participating in the elections) will probably reach you anyway (e.g. because the people you know will talk about them).
The only important thing to remember is not to limit oneself to a particular perspective or a political side etc., but to check more perspectives.
There are also internet services which collect news headlines and only show these. You can then click on the headlines that interest you.
Some examples:
https://www.newsnow.co.uk/
http://www.newslookup.com/
https://www.fark.com/
https://www.reddit.com/r/news/
https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/

https://apnews.com/
https://wn.com/
https://alltop.com/
http://www.freshnews.org/
https://www.1stheadlines.com/
https://nuzzel.com/
etc.
(I don't recommend any and probably most of them are biased anyway)
So one can ask themself the following questions:
1. Will anything bad happen, if I don't know that?
2. Will the knowledge of a particular thing influence my actions? Do I have any influence over those things?
3. Are those news true? There is so much misinformation happening nowadays in the media, that it's difficult to distinguish between true and false or (often purposefully) misleading stories. Does watching/reading the media really make me smarter? Maybe it's better to read a good book on the topic I'm particularly interested in, to get a perspective closer to the facts instead of watching/reading the media?
E.g. if you need government information, just access government websites instead of the second-hand sources. If you need to make a decision for whom to vote, read some news related to that in particular before the elections (from all sides). They'll point each other's weaknesses and past failures.
The only downside is that one might be seen by some people as "out of the loop". But one can live with that.

Re: Can we Stop with the Corona crap!
E.g. I didn't know about that Netflix' Tiger-something show and it didn't hurt me in any way. The news reached me through this forum and I simply asked the person who said something about it, and I got a short summary.
Re: Can we Stop with the Corona crap!
I also do not use (most) social media, but it might be difficult for other people, so I'm not sure if I can recommend it. It might not apply or even be harmful to other people in some ways.
But social media do a really nasty thing. If at least some of the people you know are made into "sharing" articles, you cannot avoid it. You cannot block your friends for obvious reasons. And social media websites often make "sharing" extremely easy to do and actively encourage it. So your friends might shower you with things you don't want to read about and they might do it with good intentions and you cannot avoid it.

Especially the link in the last post. It's about how media coverage of the coronavirus epidemic affects our psychological well-being.
The long list of links is just to give you some examples of the kind of services I have in mind.

Exactly.
But it's probably because it's a hot topic now.
I wonder if it's time to move on…
In the UK things seem to get a bit more rational, so maybe I should.

Yeah, I think I'll move on. Thanks for pointing it out that it turns into an obsession. (I'm an otaku after all, ha ha.)

I'll play whatever....especially with YOU Beex!!!
I think everyones just dealing with it in their own way. I totes understand needing a break from it. I've pretty much stop watching all the media on it period. It's nice not dealing with it when Im home from work. Its still a pretty gruesome scene at the hospital. That said, places all over town are carting free food to us front line staff around the clock which is very appreciated.....unless you can't eat most food. It's pretty much orange juice, oatmeal, coffee, and frozen califlower crust pizza for me most days XD
MoV made us dessert for breakfast yesterday O_O

Re: Can we Stop with the Corona crap!
I’ll run a werewolf game. I’ll put up a thread for signups in CN.
To be fair it’s only lately that it’s been getting to me. So we’re good Beex.
Let’s have a good time with a werewolf game
