Honestly tho I've never had boylans or triple xxx root beer, but I genuinely enjoy root beer and would be keen to try it.

Did you first have it in Da Souf, or did you have it in Australia? What brands can you find in Australia? Also are there many actual Australian brands? The only easy one to find in the US is Bundaberg. I should look into that more.

Boylan's and Triple XXX are both good. The closest semi-common brand I could compare Triple XXX to would be Dad's, but it's better. Boylan's is pretty unique and is a stronger, more traditional style one in general.

First time I had American root beer was... in Australia, it's not common but a lot of "american" restaurants serve a&w which was the first root beer I had. Howver sarsparilla is... well its not as common here as root beer is there, and theres a few different brands, but Bundaberg is the most common and arguably the best.

There was a small batch brewer that I used to go to, he ran a pub and brewed his own beers as a hobby and he made a sassafras based brewed root beer which is easily the best I've ever tasted. It was the right balance of sweet and bitter, with a very subtle aniseed backing with sweet notes of vanilla on the way down.

Then he sold the bar and disappeared. I'll never forgive him. He also brewed a phenomenal weissbier.
