Ha ha, and the constant belief that armagedon will be in 20 years. It reminds me of something, ha ha.
I think it's cool how much this cultural belief factors into the story and the actions of characters. I think it was Askeladd first talking about on the hill with Thorfinn.

Yeah, I remember that. The reason was different, but the idea was the same.

Oh, the prince is also a religious fanatic. I have so many reasons to dislike him now, ha ha. But I think the life will teach him sooner or later.

Oh, the prince can cook. So there's at least one positive thing about him. He's also peaceful, which could be positive but not in his situation.

Let's see who's better, Jesus or a pair of shears.
EDIT: Oh, so it's not Jesus but revenge for his family.

An interesting thing… I like how they showed how real (as opposed to fake) leadership depends on trust that the leader makes better decisions than people who are lead (e.g. because the person is smarter or more experienced). When the decisions turn out to be bad, the leaded people start to ignore the leader's opinions. That's why the leader must always be careful to make right decisions and take into account opinions of the leaded people. It's also interesting how direct the relationship between the leader and the leaded people is. People can talk to the leader and ask for explanations.
I'm not a huge fan of leadership in general, but this kind of leadership often appears as a consequence of the fact that e.g. some people have more experience than other. If people are not provided with a different model from the beginning, this is something that might appear. If there are no other options with less focus on leadership, this model of real leadership is certainly better than fake leadership. E.g. the prince would be a fake leader.
