The ED is very poignant after this episode in particular.

  Spoiler:
I've been in that woman's position several times. You help someone only to have them stab you in the back in the most unbelievably pernicious way, and you just stand there wondering what on earth could they possibly be thinking, feeling, and valuing. How does a human being do something like that?

To have that person be the main character in a story of this realism is heavy.

That said, this isn't yet the military story I was hoping for.

Granted, I'm very hard to please in this realm.

I don't think it will be at this point. And personally I'm happy it isn't.

I hope broken expectations in this regard didn't make you dissatisfied and you still enjoy it?

That was a pretty fun episode.

Yeah, I don't think this is going to be a great military show but seeing them carry the boats into battle was pretty fun.
And Thorfinn did well. In a not-despicable way this time.
  Spoiler:
I'm glad he's still thinking of revenge instead of losing himself and no longer caring.

since he's going to get his duel, I wonder where the story will go. It seems too early for him to leave the company, and I also seriously doubt he could beat Askeladd.

I think it is possible. The title of this show is Vinland saga. He should start his journey to Vinland at some point. I doubt it gonna be with the current crew, but who knows…

  Spoiler:
I think it'd be strange if he up and killed Askeladd and then all of the sudden he's a refreshing young man going off on an adventure to vinland. There's gotta be some stuff in between.
Well, first of all I'd be surprised if he can kill Askeladd, anyway.

lolin indicated Vinland Saga is a manga. It won't necessarily be the case that the story leads to Vinland in this season or the next.

And the intros are beating the hell out of this war with england, which is exciting but I don't think we'll be leaving these shores for vinland anytime soon.

To be honest, I have no idea. Let's wait and see.

The author can surprise us as well, who knows.

  Spoiler:
I don't think he had to. He wouldn't have falled for Thorfinn's feints twice. I think he probably could have won without it.

In any event, his memory loss was definitely faked. Askeladd was really moved by Thor. He wouldn't have forgotten it.

I wonder what Askeladd is really feeling. I get the impression he likes Thorfinn and sees a lot of promise in him. I wonder if he regrets the choices he made to make killing Thors--and bearing Thorfinn's hatretd--necessary.

I wonder how much of what he does is for show in order to maintain his status as the leader.

Come to think of, his takebacksies of offering to follow Thors felt a lot like that too. Like he spoke from his heart and then realized he couldn't so he made it a joke and then killed him.

And so I wonder if his winning unfairly was also for the benefit of showmanship. He was definitely pressed harder than he expected.
