Individual tiny branches are independent from each other, but at the very least the shape of that branch and its leaves aren't fixed. Individual leaves at least look like they're independent of each other.

Yeah, I've noticed it as well! This show has amazing CGI and traditional animation integration. And both are really high quality. If this is how studios integrate CGI into anime in the future, I might not be against it.
