you don't get points for the vowels. when you buy them it reveals them all on the board. so if you bought O and there was 4 of them on the board you'd reveal all 4 for 50 points. Buying vowels is for help guessing the words as you can guess most words when you can see where the vowels are.

I didn’t know that, I just thought vowels are more common so easy guesses n that’s why you had to buy them but thought we still got points for them
Ah well lesson learnt for next time
