It is not going well
One member literally breaks into tears anytime we ask her to do work and then when we continue on without her she also breaks into tears for not being included

she first said she had some personal stuff going on and I was understanding and the group told her to go and take some time, like dont worry
then 30 mins later i run into her and she looks panic-y so i asked her if shes okay (yenno, like you alright?)
all she said was, i kinda lied and dont have personal stuff going on......
then we both just kinda stared at each other
and then i just walked away
so now anytime she cries idk if shes faking it or what
so i'd rather just have it be over with
too tired for this confusion

How do you not just lie in that situation? You've already lied. Everybody already thought you had personal stuff going on. No one cares what it is. Just let a single tear roll down your cheek and smile. They'll be like poor dear she's just having a fucked up old time of it lets try to carry her to a decent grade.
