I only watch random streams if I'm planning on getting a game and want to see some gameplay in detail. I did it with Tera and it convinced me to start playing it :)

That's pretty solid for a reason, honestly. Tera always seemed fun to me but none of my friends would play it with me and generally if I'm playing something online I need friends to play with. If it's something like an MMO (Ff14 or Tera for example), watching the higher level raids and dungeons can definitely help you pinpoint whether or not you really want the game or just want to make a kawaii loli with a greatsword (that was my reasoning for trying Tera, lol)

In my opinion, if someone asks you to directly help them..it's fine..backseat game like a pro.... But when it comes to people who you are watching ect and they don't ask at all.. it may be hard not to chime in when you notice them doing something wrong, but you need to remember you will be ruining their personal experience of figuring it out.

I actually enjoy watching people play games, especially RPGs or games with engrossing storylines its like watching an interactive movie.

My position on streamers failing to follow my instructions while I spectate their channel is very simple and I'll clarify it just in case anyone is curious.

Hear my orders, question me and die.
