Some exceptions are games with stories which are on par with books/anime/manga/good TV series/good films etc. These are rare. Some examples are good visual novels and games like Planescape: Torment.
I don't enjoy moving my avatar in a game and performing tasks. It'd be better if someone else did it, so I don't need to make any effort. Sometimes I watch walkthroughs, if I think a game is particularly interesting. I don't enjoy solving puzzles in games because it takes a lot of time and requires mental effort. I don't like trying again and again. I think my time and effort might be spent better elsewhere.
These are of course my personal feelings about games in general. Games are not bad or anything like that, it's just that I personally don't enjoy most of them.
Understandable... Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, it's also good you haven't fully given up on games... with visual novels and watching walkthroughs ect. Guess it gives good purpose for people who make walkthroughs on youtube.

In comparison to JRPGs, I would agree that Western RPGs just do not have the same flare. I'm not entirely sure what's missing from them, I can never pinpoint it myself either but they just simply are not as engaging or as fun to play.

This is very true I probably do devote too much time to JRPGs as a genre... I just probably diversify a bit more That said, I used to play a huge range of games, it's only really since I got in to the PS4 that my focus has been very RPG orientated... Hmm...

"Every position must be held to the last man: there must be no retirement. With our backs to the wall and believing in the justice of our cause, each one of us must fight on to the end."
Earl Douglas Haig, Order to the British Army, 12 April 1918
So death, the most terrifying of ills, is nothing to us, since so long as we exist, death is not with us; but when death comes, then we do not exist. It does not then concern either the living or the dead, since the former it is not, and the latter are no more.
Moulders I get that..Sometimes i will get mobile games just to pass the time travelling if i don't want to bring my DS with me, but they are never really that good.... Except as Nishizono Shinji says.. Pokemon Go, which i go out and play with my daughter. It's fun bonding time, catching pokemon.
to add to my last answer, I've really started to hate fighting games because of modern monetisation of them. I personally detest the idea of paid characters in them (as not everyone has access to them) and don't get me started on Dead or Alive 5's £1000+ catalogue of costumes.
Even though I have things like subscriptions for games, consoles etc, I just hate it because the gamer has already had to save up for the console, the game etc so the fact there are DLCs that improves the gameplay, Subscriptions to allow the gamer to play with their friends etc annoys me a little.
DLC kinda annoys me too, though i'm mostly okay with it if it isn't overly expensive, actively improves the game, and isn't just something that should have been there from the start.

I didn't like WoW at first as it seemed too difficult for me but then I got used to its gameplay and mechanics and now it is quite normal for me to play it 2-3 times a week with friends and to spend about 5% of my month salary on WoW gold at https://overgear.com/games/wow
