Oh, Raphtalia had a thought other than Naofumi.

That was a good episode.

What did you like about it?

  Spoiler:
For me, the story is far more cringe than the manga counterpart, as we haven't even gotten to the event that made me drop the manga in the first place (although we are getting close). Almost 100% positive the king wasn't originally portrayed in this grey light they are going for with him in the anime, and just that there is no originality to Naofumi's suffering anymore. Person frames shield hero (almost always in a very similar way, you'd think the idiot heros would catch on by now), shield hero gets bad rep and runs somewhere, rinse and repeat. Plus Melty's "why can't we all be friends" is getting pretty old too, and despite being crown princess, her older sister acts way more the part in commanding, information gathering/manipulating, etc. Even with the older sister's personality, Melty is far too inadequate in every area to be given crown princess from her sister. Plus, politics. You'd think that soldiers would defer to Melty out of anyone for being crown princess, by siding with her older sister and eventually putting in motion to kill Melty, this basically a coup at this point that cannot be controlled, but strangely cannot be fully realized. Plus, if we were to say it was all due to that religion takes precedence over royalty, we have seen far too little of any mention of the church/faith/anything on this subject to properly foreshadow this, as from what I gather, people just like to hold onto the three heros church's emblem just because it looks cool or something, as there is no appearance otherwise that they remotely follow it.

Things I think they should have changed: Raphtalia/Filo actually accepting Naofumi as an adopted father rather than a half baked love interest that isn't going anywhere. Older sister is much more aggressive in taking over the kingdom (including dethroning her father) and takes steps when her mother tries to come back and dethrone her. Which would give a better explanation why the queen has been out of the picture all this time, and is searching for Naofumi to side with him for her own goals on taking back the kingdom. Melty actually not being a damsel in distress, and perhaps displaying some military tactics or something against her sister. The church of three hero's having more of an impact on everyday life in the capital, plus perhaps even having a church of the shield somewhere that fell from grace years ago. And just overall less of "we want to be evil just to be evil" and both sides actually having goals and reasons on each side that they fight for to realize these goals for the kingdom.

Mostly the fact that Raphtalia had a thought other than Naofumi.

Maybe I have low standards.

Well, no, I guess it's still interesting.

  Spoiler:
Trying to reason with another hero. Let's see who it is.

I guess it would be those two, which naofumi conveniently just saved.

Yea everything seems to be pointing to the royal families plot and betrayal being unmasked by the other heros at some point too

Hmm the church plot was alluded to, but now it appears. It's unfortunately simple. But I guess this makes the other conflicts more interesting.

what a great episode
  Spoiler:
I assume the other two heroes somehow survived and they will have to fight the church and the waves thus bringing them finally together as a unit.
