In any case, this girl's the cutest thing ever.
If anyone agrees with me, it's probably drill

he drags her out of the slave market and buys her a ball. Fucking softie ass.
You know I think he just doesn't have any clue what he is or wants to be or needs to be.
Ok hey now. If she's scared of blood, don't get her a fucking sword, give her a blunt weapon. No need to make it more difficult than necessary.
Also letting low level monsters bite you is one thing, but he should probably get rid of that fighting style pretty quick like... that was a dumb move.

Momogari wrote: I hope she won't stay a slave for long. He obviously pities her, but I don't think he believes that--or is actually--he's in a position where he can release one of the few assets he has.
I wonder if I'd have done the same in his position. If he's gonna go cold and ruthless, he might as well make a better choice than the diseased raccoon girl. How is he going to care for her in his situation? She's likely nothing but a waste of money, sick as she is.
I wonder if he's only pretending to be cold and ruthless, rather than more holistically taking it upon himself to be so in order to survive. I assumed the latter, but his choice in slaves is odd in this case.
Another interpretation is because the slave trader just told him she's diseased and has a mental disorder and probably won't last long, he was thinking he could make the deal dirt cheap, afford it easily and still learn how to handle slaves before getting one that's actually useful to him.

Female slaves seem to be a new hype in isekai anime. It's sick. But besides that, I hope he just tries to teach her how to survive. She'll end up a slave again, if she doesn't learn it, even if he freed her now. But these are my hopes only. Unfortunately considering the trend in the recent isekai… I can only hope this one won't follow that trend. We should see if this is the case quite soon.

I thought this one would be terrible based on its intro and summary.
It turns out I believe this might be the best one that started this season.
It’s a good one.

For me the best one will probably be something else, like Domestic Girlfriend, Dororo or Kakegurui 2. But it's certainly at the top in this season. It might be the best, I agree. We'll see.

I've read a manga. Typical story where boy becomes strong tough the whole fantasy world hates him. You may think its boring, but... No. One of the most interesting stories of the genre I've read. That is an example of good author's work. Usual plot was used, but picture, heroes and the story seem to be unique and give the project its own atmosphere.

Great first two episodes. The whole scenario and execution was done better in the anime. A lot of the touching scenes with Raphtalia were several times more effective, but the manga was a bit darker and Naofumi seemed worse at communication in the manga (perhaps it was just a translation thing). Overall, anime adaption far exceeded my expectations so far. Really glad its two cour.

Wasn't it an LN originally? Is the manga far?

Yes, it is. There are 13 whole books translated for the LN, while there are only 50 chapters of the manga (36 officially translated, 50 fan translated). It is hard to tell the total pacing at this point, but I'd probably guess the anime will overtake the manga with a full 25 episodes. Also, should add that there should be enough content for another full 2 cour show soon after this one.

Even though I knew it was going to happen, Raphtalia grew up too fast D:
Overall, pretty faithful to the manga so far. Only thing that seems to have been missing in this episode is when the shop keeper suggests chain mail (which only reminded him of the betrayal). Don't necessarily think it was bad to take it out as it is already obvious how much it is affecting him.

Jeez, her character's changed quite a bit too. She's still a tanuki girl. And still cute. Hmm... Oh, she kinda wears the pants in the relationship now. Sometimes. I don't mind this. Be better if it was all the time.
I don't see the slave collar but if she was released there would have been drama about it, I'd think. The episode ended without any mention of slavery either way. I don't know.
I really enjoyed the episode though.
