Drawing For Fun. Part Deux -Noodle's Artwork-
So as it says, drawing for fun. I've been drawing since I was a little kid really. I wanted to go into Graphic Design as a teenager, but that fell through with going to a Technical School after High School, and I didn't have the patience to start all over to get into the field. (drawing shapes, making color paint charts, TYPING CLASSES -WHAT?!?-).
I've drawn here and there over the past few years, I usually end up drawing about 1 thing a year, but with following artist's Instagrams, drawing anime and real life stuff, I figured I'd get into it again. Getting the good paper (Strathmore 500 bristol paper and then the toned tanned paper), amazing colored pencils - (Prismacolor) and inking pens (Copic pens)
Mediums of choice are obv colored pencil and inking, one of these days I'll experiment with Copic markers. I'm way too comfortable with my current medium.

Been wanting to draw from this picture for awhile now, just haven't had the motivation to do so. Finally had the motivation to do so after getting the day away from the kiddo. hahaha. Seems I can only get some drawing in when he's either asleep or away. The paper is pretty huge, I forget the dimensions, but it's a Strathmore 500 series Bristol Paper. This will take me awhile.

Steal away bby. <3
I haven't tried Prismacolors, they aren't really available here. I think they're more of a USA thing. I've been looking at people do dollface redraws with them on Youtube and I'm really interest in what they are like. I like Caran d'ache for colours and Faber Castel for pencils.
As for the drawing you posted... You've done amazing with the picture so far, I can't wait to see your progress! Will you be colouring it, and if so, what are you going to use? The Prismacolours?

Thank you!
I reallllllly wanna try Caran d'ache pencils, but they're so expensive!!! although this website is like the go to for buying art supplies http://www.dickblick.com
I will ink it after finishing the drawing, then using prismacolor pencils.
I drew this a couple years back-- 2016

I absolutely love how you colour, your use of medium is also really effective for your art style. This final image is brilliant, it comes together in a way that celebrates everything we love about anime, brilliant composition, great line art and the characters are brought to life perfectly.

Very nice and I love the detail on it. Flower and ruffle I find rather hard, but you did great

Re: Drawing For Fun. Part Deux -Noodle's Artwork-
Yeah Caran d'Ache are admittedly pretty steeply priced, honestly the sets I have I've gotten as presents from my parents and my grandmother... <.<; Copics are pretty expensive too, but I used to buy them in bulk from eBay and then one by one from an art store nearby, so I grew my collection over the years. I do really like them though, the amount of pigment you get out of them is soooo good, never mind how well they stand light. That's my main gripe with Copics - they aren't exactly made for standing light, so things fade over time. :/
Your technique on colouring is fucking amazing, though. I can't get anything that smooth to save my life. Doesn't look like it was made with pencils at all.

Oh that really sucks about Copics... I didn’t know that about them.Jigglypuff wrote:Yeah Caran d'Ache are admittedly pretty steeply priced, honestly the sets I have I've gotten as presents from my parents and my grandmother... <.<; Copics are pretty expensive too, but I used to buy them in bulk from eBay and then one by one from an art store nearby, so I grew my collection over the years. Thank you! I see how these artist instagrams and it’s exactly how they color too. At first I thought it was impossible to color it that way with the smooth consistency, but tbh it was pretty easy to do.

Re: Drawing For Fun. Part Deux -Noodle's Artwork-
I just now realise I managed to mangle up my post so it’s a bit unclear <.> I meant that Caran d’Aches withstand light very well and have good pigment (in case it sounded like I meant Copics here).
This is from the Coptic official website:
“Will Copic ink on artwork fade over time?
Dyes are artificial material made through chemical processes and are not usually as archival as pigment products.
In general, dyes are susceptible to ultraviolet rays. Copic inks are a dye and Copic-colored images will fade under direct sunlight or fluorescent light. If your artwork with Copic will be put up in well-lighted area, it is better to seal it with a UV blocking seal.”
https://copic.jp/en/support/f3-3/
So if you want to start using them more, the UV blocking seal is pretty important. :/
