Someone did because I sure as hell didn't compile that list.
Re: everybody else is doing it OR lolin talks to himself
Ain't nobody got time for that.

stalolin once made a list of Zelda games and didn't include Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.

Isn't spirits within a movie not a game?

You could rent a VHS of it and go outside and toss it back and forth with a friend then it's both.

That film was so hyped.
I never watched it because it was so universally despised.
Hmm I might force myself to and force myself to enjoy it just to be different.

Re: everybody else is doing it OR lolin talks to himself
A lot of the hatred for it stems from the fact that the monumental box office flop it experienced forced Square to merge with Enix, which is generally seen to be right when the quality of Square's games started to drop off.
Which I don't necessarily disagree with.
The problem is that Enix was not a development company, they were a publisher. Essentially all the merger did was establish Enix as Square's publishing division and bring in new revenue. Since the merger, Enix's developmental contributions have been minimal, such as helping with DQVIII, which is, ironically, one of SE's most highly regarded games. Square kept most of their devs in the merger.
Basically what this says to me is that Spirits Within and the merger didn't tank Square's quality; Square's devs were just becoming washed-up hacks. I personally don't think that the shift to higher and higher budgets and longer and longer development times has done SE any favors either.
That said it's still a lousy movie even if you ignore the branding and watch it as a generic sci-fi space commandos shootan stuff movie. But it probably will rile some people if pretend to like it so godspeed you African-American-Briton emperor.

I never saw it.
The only FF movie I watched was Advent Children.
That seems like a plausible analysis, though.

I was not aware that it was so bad that it almost sunk the company, I also didn't know that this was the reason they merged.
I see what you mean about the devs being hacks. I can imagine that they may have got high on the scent of their own effusions. I also think that knowing that a huge fanbase will lap up any old dross you put out stifles the need to be creative and interesting.

I so wanted to enjoy that. I only saw it once and that was a long time ago.
Buuuuuut... I didn't. See I hate all that over dramatic apocalyptic stuff with the posing and the supernatural powers. FF7 had a ton of it but it was interspersed with more human interaction, kicking back in taverns, going to the funfair, chilling at the beach and getting into a bath with a load of body builders. That's not just an average weekend, it really helped with pacing. At least in my head. It also made the tense moments more impactful.
From what I remember Advent children was like a 90 minute fight?
At least my favourite character, Cid was in it.
