Nice, what book did you finish and what books are you going to be reading?
Do you have a plan exercise routine? Goals to obtain?

finished ubik, great book. phillip k dick novel, so you know it's trippy
i'm going to shoot for reading The Handmaid's Tale (1st), Ender's Game (2nd since i already own it), Tales of the Unexpected (short story collection), God is Disappointed in You (recommendation by daili lama), and the first in the Mistborn series. if i finish those i'll go onto Ready Player One
the first three / RPO were recommendations from reddit, and i got the last two from users here. handmaid's tale is first because it's dystopian and i love dystopian novels, or at least i used to back when i binged 1984, Brave New World, and Farenheit 451
and i don't really have a routine set yet, considering doing body weight / dumbbells one day and then aerobics the next. too poor to afford a gym membership

i would sell you The Castle, but i'm not sure it would ever make it to you

All sound like interesting books.
Do you read many books on programming, networking, etc.?
An exercise routine makes it easy to stick with and also meet your goals. Make your goals realistic. Best rule of thumb is to do weights twice per week and aerobics 3 to 4 times per week. Stretching before and after is important each time. Also keeping yourself well hydrated.

i have an A+ cert book, an intro to networking book, a java book, a c++ book (haven't read), and most recently a c book. i've gone through half the a+, what was required for a class for the networking, more than half the java, and i'm just starting in the c book. i have a very strong basis for programming but i wouldn't say i could actually code anything worth a damn yet

working on getting into a simple routine, drawing one day, programming the next
that way i don't get burnt out

You need a book on program patterns, and to start practicing them. Gang of Four wrote the first one. A good read despite being old. Just read one pattern, and write it, and try different stuff with it to see how it works. It'll be good programming practice.
You should attempt to write the patterns presented in the book in all the programs you know.

once i get further into a language i really like, i was planning on getting some algorithm books, like Introduction to Algorithms, Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs, and i'd like to eventually work up to the four books in The Art of Computer Programming

(however i should also probably know linear algebra before i get to algorithms)

You could, it's a decent Dick. I was going to toss out some other dystopian stuff too like Kallocain and Invitation to a Beheading, but don't put those ahead of anything you already have backlogged.
