I use music for relaxing and concentration. You just have to be picky about what you listen to.

Depressing music was usually what I went for, to go along with the mood.

When I'm depressed, stressed out just feeling sad instead of listening to sad music,I tell myself,"no,I'll listen to some good and happy music". And it works and I'm happy in a few minutes.

Music can help me but it can make me feel worse, Music is a huge part of my life. What ive seen with mental health issues and other people is unless your rocking backwards and forwords or talking in gibberish or "acting crazy" then it can't be that bad! "you just need to change your outlook" kind of responses. If they can't SEE it, its not real.

Yeah. Instead of actually feeling the emotions, people can be judgemental and think that they just know everything about you and what you're going through. They don't even try to get to know you and they think that their poorly processed solutions will work for you.

I know someone was being sarcastic about using alcohol to get over depression, but let's not joke about that.
Making the effort to be physically active has research showing that it's extremely beneficial to your mental health and I would agree 100% with it. Yeah, it sucks to get motivated to go out and do shit but you just have to power through it.

Physical activity is very effective against depression or anxiety or anything mentally related.
I started playing football at the local football club and I can't believe how much good it did me. It always gave me a sense of achievement and teamwork.

Depressing music is usually pretty good, I find. Not much of what I like is happy, but that's because happier things often leave me feeling alienated because I cannot relate, which in turn still makes me experience a negative emotion.

People like that are the worst...

Yuuuup, to both responses.
But, if they know you have a mental health issue that's obvious, people treat you differently too. I had to go on medical leave with disability at work for 4 months. I just went back a couple weeks ago. Everyone treats me differently now, because they all know why I left. Like they don't know what to say to me. Fair enough that it's awkward, but - I don't know - I'm still just a person. Everyone has their struggles. Mine just happened to need ECT treatments and hospitalization temporarily.

Ya know what? I just realized that maybe people act so awkwardly, because they don't know how to help or because people a lot of times want to fix things and you can't cure a mental illness. I don't know. Just mumbling.

While I was in school, a lot of people very visibly seemed to look down on me; most seemed to treat me as though they were talking to someone much younger than them instead of someone who was their age. In their cases, I don't think it was because of what you said, though.
Also, Rhia, please make use of the edit function if you have an idea you'd like to add in after you've already made a post... doubleposting isn't usually allowed in GD.

Even if someone tried to help me, they did a poor job at it. At least most people were like that.

A long time ago, yes I did.
I found friends and I entrusted in music to rekindle my dwindling emotions; I completely shut off and became extremely indifferent, only occasionally would I crack and what emotions stored in me I did not know of, would come pouring out in a storm of madness.
Present day I have recovered but it has left its ruin for me, I still have a little bit of trouble but it does not bother me because it played a role in becoming who I am today. The good times help you move forward, the bad make you learn to stand your ground.
I say it's given me a bad habit of listening to sad music but I make a moment of it, like a movie I make playlists that start with opening music, sad music, struggle/motivational music and finally the happy music.
