otakuprincess wrote:Yes, anxiety and depression, the anxiety is linked to another mental health issue though, but sadly over the last 2 years it got worse, I used to go to conventions in London by bus and train, now some days I can't even face leaving the house, I stopped talking to everyone and became so closed off, part of the reason I just joined here! Get talking to people again and make some new friends :)

I just realized that I missed this post, :/ . But...

*gives you a big warm and loving hug*

Hun, I understand completely. I can't really leave my house and don't talk to anyone, either... But, AL is a good place to make friends, :) . If you ever want to talk, you're always free to message me, <3

It's usually the dark jewels that are more beautiful or . . . sweet or . . . well you get the point.

This character's form is called Dark Jewel, and since I thought that it was pretty cool and because I thought it would make for a good name, I picked it. But I get your point, :) . My next choice for a username is Morning Rose, but that one is based off of a song title.

I was too, but then I had multiple people tell me I showed signs of both depression and anxiety and that therapy alone might not be all that effective. Then I did some googling and found out that it's actually quite common for medication to be combined with therapy.

It's really all about making recovery possible in the first place.

I have both, but no meds for me. Like I said... I would rather have a more natural result.

I was tried on 2 different types of anti anxiety medication, had the same reaction on both. I felt extremely sleepy to the point i fell asleep with out remembering with in 20 mins of taking them and slept for 15 hours and then felt weird and "spaced out" for days. I've not tried any others and i am not sure i will.

Wow, :c

I can't really blame you for not wanting to try more, honestly.

I had a little depression stint when I lived in the dorms at my university for a good year and a half. Wasn't prescribed anything and got over it eventually, just took time and a lot of hanging out with friends haha. Moving out of my parents house probably helped a ton too, they would argue quite often and somehow I was included in these arguments.
Medication for these scared me at the time, didn't want to be turned into a zombie and I think it might have been good to deal with it head on instead of suppressing it.

This is a topic I can relate too.

After a break down at work last year I went for a mental health assessment and it came back as mild anxiety and mild depression. This was AFTER having been assessed. I likely showed signs of depression and anxiety while at school because of all the bullying I suffered. Going home and saying to my parents I wished I was dead and even writing that same phrase on one of my work folders which my tutor pulled me up about.

Years 9 - 11 I was diagnosed with mild autism. To this date I still don't understand the extent of my form of autism.

Anxiety, Depression and on top of that my Autism, it is not a good combination. Think of it like mixing drinks that should not be mixed at a party but it still happens.

How they effect me:-

Depression, I dont like using that word, leaves me unmotivated and sometimes disinterested. But I still do it anyway with enough effort.

Anxiety causes me to be indecisive and question everything, which then adds my depression to the mix. I also get physical and emotional pain, mainly in my chest that then effects my asthma.

Autism I was told causes me to misinterpret what has been said or done to me. This was the biggest problem in dealing with my bullying. It isn't all that bad now really, because of my habit of looking at something from an alternative point of view I can see things others may not and then act upon it or change how I approach/talk to people. Someone might be able to hide pain they are feeling or going through and I'll be able to pick up on that.

My means of coping with everything is by being as best prepared as I can. For staving or depression I look at what I have done, achieved and accomplished lately then laugh the bad feelings away. I'm doing something now every weekend so there is always a meet-up or convention to look forward to on the coming weekend.

What I've experienced in my years is terrible and I can't stand "seeing" others go thorough it.

Why do you feel you can't be as social with your fellow co-workers?
