I know from old that it's nigh on impossible to get one unless you book AGES in advance due to the school runs, and even then they're nearly always late.
I have an appointment up at the Hallamshire Hospital at 9.30 on Friday, had to book the Taxi for 9, as support worker can't get till 8.30 and then I've to have breakfast, coffee and tablets.
I rang City up this morning, spoke to some foreign woman who didn't understand me so I gave up and rang back on the landline, spoke to somebody else, and booked for 9 from the Flat, I know it's literally 10 minutes up the road but if they arrive much later than about 10 past, we've blown it and most people know what the NHS are like about people being late for appointments even when it's not directly their fault.
I did ask Dad for a lift, and if I could cancel the Taxi but he and Mum won't support me in any way for the Cochlear implant op.
Thoughts?

Well it turns out the appointment itself got cancelled due to staff illness (I wouldn't mind but this always happens when I plan stuff in a Military style operation!) so I had to ring up and cancel the Taxi, spoke to some Foreign call centre drone who didn't understand my strong local accent, even though I spoke slowly, and had the speaker on on my mobile, in the end I gave up and rang back on the landline and spoke to this other bloke.
I wouldn't mind but this seems to be a rather annoying, increasingly common problem, that people don't understand me on the telephone.
