Anyone know when they're turning the Xmas lights on in Sheffield?

Conflicting reports on Facebook, some say it's this weekend, others say it's next weekend.

I could do without it being next Sunday as I'd be arriving back from Hull around Sunday tea time, and don't want to be on a Tramful of drunk idiots making numpties of themselves.

A quick GOOGLE search reveals this bit of information.

Taking place across the city centre on Sunday 20 November from 2 to 6.30pm (the switch on of the illuminations at 6pm) with a dual switch on from Barkers Pool and Town Hall Square.

I did Google it prior to this topic, Google said it was this Saturday between 15.00 and 18.00.

Which website? I looked at "Welcome to Sheffield" and I have sent you the link. It matches with last year, as the switch on then was Sunday 21st.

I walked through The Moor, Peace Gardens and Fargate today, and they are just putting up the stalls for the Xmas market.

That same website that you posted says Thors Tipi will be in the Peace Gardens, but I don't know where they will put it unless it is on top of the two-storied Alpine Bar they have built there. I think it is very out-of-date with it's info. Thor's is only in York, Lincoln, Leeds and London this year.

The main focus of the Market will be on The Moor and Peace Gardens, because they put that "Container Mall" at the top of Fargate.

There was a report in the Star last week that the "Containers" will be moved at some point.
