The Vision of Escaflowne

Post by Ojisama » 17 Oct 2022, 12:07

O.M.G!

My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw this. Just updated on Crunchyroll, original Japanese soundtrack with English subtitles.

One of THE great classic anime, The Vision of Escaflowne (Tenku no Escaflowne)

Featuring a plethora of Anime tropes and refusing to be stuffed into the confines of a single genre, this is the anime that has it all.

Crossing to another world.
Gigantic Mecha.
Feisty Female Protagonist.
Love triangles.
Unrequited love.
Cat girls.

Check, check, check, check, check and check!

Yes, it premiered in the spring of 1996, and is looking a little dated with the characters drawn following trends at the time, but that is the point. The whole thing was HAND DRAWN. Every action sequence, sweeping landscape, tear, and cheer.

I will be all over this.

Enjoy the official trailer from the Blu-ray release 5 years ago.

To those just starting on the journey of life I say...
Bang your own drum. Walk your own path. Live wildly. Love fiercely.
As you near the end, look back with no regrets.

ahh... sad, it didn't cross over to Crunchyroll in the Netherlands just yet... though we did get Robotech (the US dub) out of nowhere..
Will keep my eyes peeled then :)
