It's not permadeath really.
Each time you enter the next room you get a choice of random powerups. You also can find money that can buy you more health or powerups. When you die you just lose the money and powerups for that run. It manages to avoid being frustrating by having a really good selection of powerups. You might get quite far and die, but then the next run you find a brand new power that you didnt even know existed, and you go all in on it and get much further.
Some builds are incredibly fun.
Each run you keep some permanent power boost so you do get stronger (and you unlock new weapons)

Can't recommend this game enough. It's a must play

I've not played it, but I have played the other games the developers have put out (Bastion, Transistor and Pyre) and I'll say that you REALLY cannot go wrong with their games. They're all absolutely fantastic.

So I bought Hades and Pyre together for a total of £20 best game purchase I've made in years.

Hmm... Probably the shield but then again maybe I am a bit biased with that because I have gotten the furthest with using that. Idk I just like how versitile the weapon is for something that you wouldn't expect to be a weapon if that makes sense?

Snap! I'm the same Poisedion's aid especially is over powered in my eyes, which really I am not mad about tbh, it did help me defeat Meg XD only really seen Artemis and Zeus's aid as well, not seen the others

I think all the aids are pretty strong. I'd personally consider Poseidon's to be on the weaker side compared to the others excluding Artemis who seemed pretty weak really but I could see it being really good in certain builds. I had Aphrodite's once and damn that was good

For me it would be the twin fist that was what I used to complete the game the first time

Poseidon works best wit the gun or the bow the knock back is good for the ranged weapons even more so for the gun that has to reload.
