I myself have a more nuanced take on generative AI. I don't like it being used for commercial purposes whatsoever, but I can support it being used as a tool for creative creation rather than just entirely relying on it. One way I've seen it used is people commissioning artists and using AI-generated content as references. I also don't like people shaping their entire lives and personalities around it. "Look at my AI art! Pretty cool, huh? Ignore the ugliness of it!" It's just stupid, but I digress. I'd still attend because I just like immersing myself in anime conventions.BengalBoi wrote: ↑19 Mar 2026, 12:19I went to the February London 2026 and this was my 3rd time...and my last.
Why? Because whilst I was there I saw AI-generated slop being sold and contacted Anime League what their policies were and they told me as long as the Vendor doesn't say they made the "artwork" they have no issue with AI-slop at their Conventions.
Absolutely disgusted. Any other Conventions I know of condone any AI-slop and Anime League go against genuine Artists.
If you support real Artists, do not go to these Conventions!

Went to Bristol Comic con. Overall, had a pretty good time, but one thing really made the event quite troublesome, and it was poor accessibility. My friend uses a wheelchair, and throughout the con, we found it difficult to navigate. Many ramps were quite steep, and the stage seating area did not have sufficient room for the wheelchair (without blocking other pathways). However, there was one ramp that lead to the quiet area upstairs, and it was so poorly designed that it was almost laughable. It wasn't wide enough for the chair, and the gaps in the metal structure put unnecessary stress on the chair, to the point we think it sustained damage. Thankfully, the staff there were very helpful in listening and helping us navigate the con.
Tl;dr: Please improve accessibility.

A better variety of stalls would have been nice. Also food stalls would be good. The only food available was a limited menu of india based cuisine at the hotel's bar!!! Not good
The one way system was very muddled. The toilets were only available at the end of the one way trail
The participation events, like karaoke & costume competition, could have been run at various intervals throughout the day, rather than only at the end of the day! Unfair to leave it till the end of the day!
Generally not a good venue for this event & better event organisation needed!. I hope next one will be better
