I thought @Ojisama said a while back that it was moving to a potentially better venue and would be held next November rather than the usual mid September?
Is next year's Sheffield AL event still at the Mercure in Town?

Unfortunately, the other venue proved to be unsuitable for us.
So yes, the Sheffield AGC will be back at the Mercure next year.
I believe we are still looking for a suitable new location that can host a Con of our size, or bigger, for 2 days. There are many factors to take into account.

Have you tried the Fly DSA Arena? Might not be cheap but it's all one level, more accessible for disabled guests, pretty big venue, I've attended a few cons there. Also the Magna Centre in Rotherham, they host the "Sheffield" con there every year from "Unleashed Events" and that's also kinda accessible, it's just a pain to get to on public transport.

Whilst I'm not privi to the economics of AL, you have put your finger on 2 of the issues under consideration. Cost and ease of access. Another factor is availability. How does the availability of the venue factor in with the AL Calendar? Both Magna and the Arena are pretty busy, and may not be available when we need them.
