Back in the 80s I used to have a lot of the big sets such as the Fire Station and Police Station and a few other bits, and I was quite good at building 'em despite my poor dexterity.
If it wasn't for the fact that even second hand on eBay, those kind of sets are going for £60 thereabouts I'd buy a couple 40 odd years later.

You're talking to the man who had to finish the sets he bought for his kids, so yes I got quite adept at reading Lego instruction sheets.

I'm sure I have more pictures but I did go through a phase where I was collecting Lego sets. Got into it only a few years back, I wish I could get more but there is no room to store more models
