Xmas presents. Birthday meal, alcohol (drink responsibly!)

With #2 off in town with his mates, it was eating out time for us.

Isn't it a bit early yet for Xmas stuff though?

I don't beee-lieve it!
What's the last thing you bought or will buy?
Later than last year!
Lets face it. I was in the shops the last week of August and they had the Xmas stock out on the sh-elves, and a tiny corner for Halloween.
Besides good to spread the cost out over a few months rather than blowing entire wage packets on a day shopping.
South park - The stick of truth and Fractured but whole.
Weeks food shop.

I'm gonna try and not spend much this week, at least not on my card, so I can afford to eat/drink in the Restaurant at the AL con on Saturday.
Whether that'll work though is another matter.

That looks an expensive restaurant! I was debating doing the same myself, but there's me and the 2 girls...richardallen1976 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2023, 16:25so I can afford to eat/drink in the Restaurant at the AL con on Saturday.

Yeah, like I said this morning, some of the posher venues, such as the St Paul's, do tend to be pricey.

Another Bat costume on eBay last night.
Despite assurances to Mum that I won't buy any more costumes due to having 2 boxes full at the Flat.
When it comes I'll just send it back.
I managed to cancel the order for a full refund.

That new Bat costume was cancelled yesterday morning for a full refund, however, it'll probably get delivered in a bit anyway, I got an email from Royal Fail last night that something's coming by 3 PM today, I know I've ordered my Brother's wedding anniversary card and gift so it might be that, in fact I hope it is.

For quick snacks such as toasted sarnies, there is a Nero's and a Costa very close to the hotel, or you can go to Orchard Square (a couple of minutes walk) where there is a small "street food" food hall called Sheffield Plate, a Bubble tea shop, another Costa, a cafe/bar (above Sheffield Plate, but I forget the name), Proove Pizza, a coffee snack bar in Waterstones, a Subway, and a couple of pubs that serve food.
MaccieD's is at the bottom of Fargate, just a few more minutes walk, with Wendy's just a bit further (but watch out for the rough sleepers/beggars).
There's a small coffee bar in the Millennium Gardens (adjacent to the hotel) but I'm not sure what food it serves, if any.

Train tickets to Birmingham and back for the MCM con at the end of November/early December (all that's left is sorting out cosplays)

I forgot that just round the corner from the Costa near the hotel is a Greggs, so you could get some sandwiches and take them back to eat outside the hotel in the Peace Gardens, or undercover in the Millennium Gardens if it is raining.
