Roe vs Wade overturn: What could this mean for the LGBTQ community?

Post by LilMissLarBear » 27 Jun 2022, 11:54

In light of the Supreme Court voting to ban legal abortions, this opens the door up to speculation as to how much more backwards in time we can get. With such a huge right being breached members of the LGBT community fear that gay rights will be next on the chopping block.

While this is scary to think about what do other people think of this? Do you think abortion ban in the US have paved the way for other rights being removed? Or do you think it's going to stop there?

Roe vs Wade overturn: What could this mean for the LGBTQ community?

I think that the US is too big to go backwards on gay rights. A lot abortion laws are mostly in place as a means of control over women and peoples sex lives in general. In many places where abortion is illegal it is hard for people to acces birth control. So many American states control the sex lives of people.

However, I doubt that gay rights would be next on their list to remove. However, that doesn't mean that the LGBT community as a whole wont face hardships. I think a lot of scapegoating may happen but nothing directly affecting rights.

They're likely coming for trans people next... Then gay marriage.

America scares me currently, but alas I have not the ability or money to live anywhere else, so I'm cursed to live here... :nekothink:

I don't agree with America is pretty good to the gays cause they are constantly tearing them down. There's a bit of homophobia in the UK, but not to the degree that the US has it. I honestly don't think Joe Binden was a good choice as I think he is literally Trump, but just doesn't show it as much as Trump did.

Thin edge of the wedge. Give it a few years once Trump is re-elected and this will seem quite whatever in comparison.
