Radioactive green works really well.

It's really amazing and the contrasts really work well :)

I'm thinking of swapping the bands, open it up a bit more.

What I'd need to do is to put some characters in there, all nice and glowing. Unfortunately, I'm not finding quite what I'm looking for in the normal character maps.

I decided I wanted to build a barge in sketchup, using metal drums for floats. So, first, I needed some drums.

Image

Basically I made a template card and spun it, then added these straps with bolt-heads.

I want this to hold a 20' shipping container, so I made a rough box and platform, and added a small pilot house for steering in the back.

Image

However, because the shipping container is so high, the pilot house has to sit on top of a small box, which means I need to add stairs to get up to it, and they have to be narrow and steep. So I asked myself, what if I moved the pilot house to the front?

We'll see which I like better.

Thanks! So do you like the pilot house in front or in back?

If we are thinking practically here, the pilot house being at the front seems like a better option. The placement for the pilot house at the back also looks kinda good, i think its because you said the stairs have to be narrow and steep with no form of support like a hand rail that made me unsure.

So yeah i think the front is the way to go :)

I can rig stringers for the stairs, no issues there.

I like the front rig because it flows so much nicer. But that means a long control path to the engines in the rear. If I put the pilot house in the back, it's a shorter path and faster response.

When I first started with Sketchup, I tried building a project as one massive build. But a lot of it was repeating the same work over and over again.

Then I discovered components. I could build one to copy and reposition to make a more massive construct. But it was still one build.

I've tried building components on their own, then importing them into the build, but still a lot of work.

Really want I need to do is to break a project into sections, then work out what each section needs in terms of elements. I can then create the individual elements, and combine them to create the section, completing that part of it before moving on to the next, until all the sections are completed and I can then bring them in to finish the project and the component.

So what will that do? It'll give me a component library of switches, levers, drawer pulls, locks, receptacles, and other objects that I can reuse again and again. And really this is what I need to do so it's all organized and I can find it again. I can't think how often I've made drawer pulls.

This is is Expendable, with each letter stacked behind the "E". I then exported and colored in the background like a stain glass window.

Okay, pulled out Dungeon Painter Studio to see if I could make a map of a section of a dormitory.

I think it's okay.

It's always awesome to see how creative you are. The stained glass window effect of the combined, overlayed layers is really cool. How did you make the Magic Circle?
