Healer, Tank or DPS?

So the question is would you say you are a Tank, a Healer or a DPS?

I use Tank (Zarya from Overwatch) or Healer (Mercy from Overwatch) on occasions but I'm not really into the roles so much

An anime Log Horizon if you know of it has the main character as an Enchanter, he's a Controller type. Which is based on an online RPG.

It's not common / doesn't exist in a lot of the biggest MMOs, especially not in WoW. The reason is that bosses and elite mobs are usually immune to CC so.

DPS isnt all just about attacking either really. Think about what a frost mage used to be/should be (before all the homogenization), it would hold creatures in place by freezing them and keep them slowed while dealing damage to them. Very much a "control" style of play.

In games I'm usually whatever role does the most impact, or is the bottleneck. Like if fights tend to fail because the tank keeps dieing because of their own mistakes, I'll pick a tank, which is what I used to main until I got fed up of being the last one alive because the healers were standing in the fire. I now lean towards healer so I can stay alive and keep others alive. Outside of the holy trinity I prefer support (usually a buffer). If I'm DPS I much prefer to play melee.

I think the reason games stick to the holy trinity is just for balance reasons. It's much easier to balance numbers like "how much a character can heal" and "how much less damage a character takes" vs stuns and slows.

Can't say this can apply to real life though but that doesn't make the question any less interesting.

So, that would be a healer that has healing, defensive and offensive skills. They would be able to take on enemies solo and not necessarily require the aid of a tank or additional DPS.

Either a healer or dps. I usually play druid on WoW and I can heal and dps on it. I also have a priest and warlock. I'm basically a caster, so I'd say I would suit either of the two.

Yeah that's an option, on ArcheAge I played as a Gypsy which can be DPS and Healer and at max level with the right build it becomes a 1 man army

Playing a healer/support role has always suited my playstyle best although my ego always wants to play a dps character
