I work for a somewhat major retail company, over the entire home department. I can do every position in my store, so I have many fun experiences. Enjoy these "fun" retail stories.

We've recently gotten a new store manager, and in the company there's something called "New Store Manager Syndrome." Basically, they try to assert themselves too much, and it shows. There are a few types of managers in our company, one of them being an operations manager. Ops managers are in-charge of making the schedules, overseeing the backroom, and anything paper. She used to be an ops manager at her old store, but she isn't acting in her role as a store manager. She's constantly going behind our ops manager who's been there for YEARS and messing up the schedule. She made a racist comment to an associate recently. Two days ago I was putting some food on out shelves and she pointed at a candy and said "This is the best candy ever, but I know you're diabetic so." I don't know if she just doesn't understand how she comes off, or if she's genuinely a nasty person.

In fairness, if she did actually know the associate was diabetic and not just assuming, then it's not racist, but just insensitive.
But yeah, that new manager syndrome is common no matter the workplace.

it happens to the best of them.
We have a manager in training, who was a server in our store, have to assert herself far more than what current management does. It’s a sad cycle to see, but it will pass in time.

Two separate instances. I'm the diabetic, and she straight made a derogatory statement to a black co-worker of mine.

My best friend at work got into a car accident last night, she's fine, but totaled her car by driving into a ditch. This morning, another one of my co-workers had a stroke at work, not a fun day.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope they are both okay. I am sending them love and positive vibes!
