On Monday, we will be doing maintenance on the AL server. The forums, event websites include ticketing systems and all other services hosted on this server will be offline for several hours.
Start time: 9AM (UK time), Monday 27th April
Duration: Several hours
End time: unknown, hopefully early afternoon if all goes to plan.
We will be wiping all data on the server, upgrading the operating system as a fresh install, and then reloading all websites from the backups. This is the second part to our forum upgrade plan.
After this maintenance, we will still be using vbulletin on the forum. The forum software will be upgraded to pphpBB during a subsequent maintenance later in the week (more information will follow about this once we have it!).
As this upgrade is so big in nature, we decided to minimise disruption by splitting it into two smaller parts. The server software needs to configured during/after this maintenance on Monday, which could take several hours or even days to finish. On Monday after we're back online, you can expect the following:
- Random error messages
- SQL database error messages
- HTTPS/SSL/443 error messages (incorrect encryption being used on the websites)
- Emails not sending correctly, or at all. This includes incorrect configuration on the server and incorrect encryption being used
- Event websites to be offline, including paypal payments not working (we'll check logs and manually mark anything as paid if it's affected by this update)
- Event tickets to not be displayed
- Server lag
- Random website outages throughout the day as we update and reload the server configuration settings
- Random glitches with the new software
If you get any random glitches after maintenance (i.e. you can see this but something doesn't work correctly), please let us know by posting here if you can, or email crew @ animeleague.com (no spaces) to report the errors.
Termination of The AL Radio Service
We regret to announce that the AL Radio service will be terminated on Monday when we do this maintenance. The shoutcast server program we use is not compatible with the updated operating system, and has not been updated by it's owners in several years. We are moving to a more modern platform for streaming content (including video/gaming) when we move to phpBB. This new service will replace the old AL Radio service.
You will not be able to use the old AL Radio from Monday onwards.
