OK. Let's discuss a simple thing first. You know how the colour red looks like. But how do you know if other people see it the same way you see it. Maybe the redness you see is different from the redness other people see. If you magically allowed other people to see it, maybe they'd call it "blue". So their "red" might not be your "red". But people can still agree that the same things are "red", because they were taught to call e.g. the insides of watermelon "red".
The problem is that you can only describe the structure of things, but not the "raw features" of things. These "raw features" are called qualia in philosophy. (Now you know a fancy word.)
So one question is, whether all people perceive qualia in the same way or not. Can we discuss it at all? How can you tell other people how your qualia look like? It seems to be impossible, the language cannot convey this.

i actually just was just reminded of something that's the perfect application of this. "the dress" that popped up a few years ago that some people saw as blue and some saw as gold. said qualia is describable, but only in such a way that you can match it to a previously known/experienced color, right? since we can't live another person's life, the qualia remains an impossibie thing to communicate to another human being without "seeing through their eyes". am i doing this right?

So there seem to be things which we understand and perceive, which are obvious to us etc., but we have no way to explain them to other people.

But at the same time we can agree perfectly that e.g. kiwi are green. Even if my green isn't (or maybe it is?) your green.

previously, i have told someone i've of the opinion that "no one person can truly understand another", and i guess what i meant is that you can only make estimated guesses without living their lives, but i didn't know exactly why i felt like that

i literally have no idea what that means

It means sometimes my butt falls asleep if I sit on it wrong for too long.
Have you ever had your butt fall asleep? It's highly philosophical.

Another one:
People often ask for a proof or at least a valid argument for something.
One way to provide it is to say something like this: "I've tried this many times in the past, so I'm pretty sure it'll work the next time."
Or: "I've tried many instances of this so I'm pretty sure it'll work in this case."
But how one can provide a valid argument for these? Why these rules work at all? You certainly cannot say: "Well, these rules worked in the past and in many cases before, so they should work now and for this case." He he
(The fancy word is "the problem of induction")
If one cannot justify it, one cannot justify science, because science says things about the future and about all instances based on particular experiments performed in the past.
(Let's ignore falcificationism for the sake of argument

i am staunch believer in fact over opinion, maybe a reason i don't like debate much since it feels like it's mostly opinion wars in places i've seen
i see what you mean though, it'd be like the concept of "seeing is believing" in the sense that if you have not experienced, how can you be certain it's true? from the ground up when you're born till you die, you're raised with some level of education in many places in the world, and this would essentially cause you to believe in authority figures or organizations such as your school or your parents. i'd wager that trust is the only metric that you could actually measure how much someone or something says is true, and even then, forming a healthy criticism is ridiculously important. having no knowledge of something ends up leading towards either testing it out yourself, deferring to whom you believe is an expert/someone you can trust, or just plain making something up
