New drawing tutorial is up! Thought I would give you a Pokemon to draw this week because... Why not?! Pomemon is just iconic! Also will give you a break from drawing human characters too :sweatdrop:

Enjoy!

It is still a very good attempt! Not sure if that was the frame not helping there but it is worth practising it again if you hope to get used to drawing him :)

Thanks
I think so ... Sort of, kinda of. lmao

I' didn't get to faces yet, in the courses I bought. But anyway, yeah.

Messed up ears alingment, also could've done a better job with them, the face is off ( the shape ), and the "shade/highlight" in the hair could've been better.

It's still better then I could do anyways :)

Anyone can draw. Drawing is a skill... A lot of people may think it's something related to a higher force such as "talent", but drawing is actually a skill.
Robert Marzullo and Rich Graysson (both artists, both worked for important companies such as DC, Marvel, etc), say the same thing during one of their lectures. The biggest "block" is the "mental block". Thinking that you can't draw because you don't "have it in you". However, it's a skill, much like playing an instrument, learning a new language, it's a skill that requires "building up", studying, etc.

Rich G. says something really cool on his anatomy course: " You cant draw a stickman, without knowing how to draw a line." Then he builds up on the idea, by explaining how observation, studying shapes, construction, perspective, anatomy, all come into play when you desire to draw something more complicated.

I mean, I don't know if you desire to learn it. Just saying. Speaking from my experience, I always enjoyed drawing.... ever since I came into contact with "silly" child comics such as Donald Duck, Turma da Monica ( a very famous brazilian comic drawn by Mauricio de Souza ), etc... Yet, everytime I tried and didn't achieve the results I so desired, I'd "conclude" that "I don't have what it takes".
Then, I began thinking about the things that I CAN do, which require skills, etc. And realized that, for example, even when I began learning english (22 years ago) I didn't just suddenly begin speaking fluently, with a good / decent accent, etc... I built that skill.

And just as it is with learning anything else, I began practicing art again (for real this time, and knowing that it's gonna take time until I produce something I'd consider acceptable). But I'm gonna keep at it. Studying, failing, picking it up, fixing my mistakes, taking advice, etc. until I can finally reach a level I'm comfortable with. And then set an even higher standard, and achieve it.

@ON TOPIC
Anyway, I've tried doing some different things with this squirtle... specially with the guide's "highlights and shadows". I think his light is off, seems to me the author highlights some areas that, kinda of, feel off... as if light could'nt bounce of the surface he illustrated.
But yeah, this is my Squirtle :v

Post by LilMissLarBear » 22 Nov 2021, 13:42

I have been a lot busier over the past few months so I won't be able to post tutorials weekly- these will be taken off sticky. But I do want to keep posting these for people to try. Here is a nice and simple one, it isnt too fast paced so you can follow along yourself. Enjoy and as always would love to see your attempts Image
