I use this type of wood burner with various tips right now a tip I use for shading is in place.

Yes . I use more pointed tips for details, I draw mostly with a tip that shape like a scalpel but depending on what I making I would switch it out and for shading I have both small shading tips for details and large to cover a large area . For the drawing it what ever tip you feel comfortable with.
