Grace's Illustrations

Post by GraceMellody » 29 Jun 2018, 10:17

Hi there!
So I make flat 2D graphics which I print into stickers, I take commissions from my friends and it's a nice way to make a bit of money while I continue to study and/or look for work
Here's a few of my recent things and i'll add more as I do them I suppose!

These are really cool :) Are the group ones based on idol groups?

Yes! The above two are based on Morning Musume, the bottom is based on Juice=Juice (and the single one was a design I was going to use for my CD cover but i've changed my mind)
A lot of my commissions are usually idol groups which i'm happy about because it's nice to work on figures that I know and like myself

your figure game is on point

i'm sure you've invested a lot of time into drawing figures, 'cause they came out great!

also, being good enough to get money off commissions must be nice, even if you don't make a great deal (i'm not there yet :( )

how long have you been drawing?

Yeah the great thing about them is that once i've made a commission - other people might be interested in buying the same set too
I started really enjoying artwork at about age 15 I believe - so I chose to do a Level 3 Art&Design course at college. Two of my favourite things were life drawing (especially the female figure) and digital illustrations - so I guess it's no surprise I ended up doing this!

Thank you, Aeri!

Yesterday I began this set~
These outfits were from a 2015 single and i've always loved the outfits so I figured i'd add them to my sets~ I'm glad I did because as I posted progress pictures on someone who was about to pay me for a different commission decided to add two designs from this set lol

How do you choose their poses?

For these that are based on real people I try to find a base image of them (whether it's in that outfit or not) and then sketch over it. I do that to ensure that I get their particular body right.

For ones that aren't based on an image (like the one I posted in the first post of myself) I tend to look at stock photos until I find one that I think fits and I use that as reference

Decided to show off one of my traditional prints before drowning this thread with only illustrations

These are so good :O
I adore the colours and the poses, much more sassy than the original
