Re: Expendable's Little Blue Box
Doing it this way with all the internal struts isn't really necessary, nobody's going to see it, but I like having this detail. Maybe I'll use this to create a quarter-sized model.

I'd like to think so! Someone on another forum asked if I was going to build this or not. I don't know, could be fun in miniature.

Something quarter-sized, so it'll fit on a shelf but you can see the details. The brass railing on top will be interesting.

Later. I have to draw it all out before I can start in on the color. Need to find a nice stained wood for this.

So this is what the console looks like now.
And this is what it looks like when it's rendered.

It's a start, anyway. Need to find a better texture.

Re: [ARTS] Expendable's Little Blue Box
I discussed in my writing thread about an asteroid ship, and was thinking about how that could be set up.
And I wound up creating this.
I figured this would be personal quarters for a crew member, a double-hulled pressure bubble. I've got the circular studs, the re-enforcing nogging that goes between the studs, inner and outer walls, domed end-caps and the framework for a raised floor.
And it was only after I worked all this out that I realized I was doing this wrong. This is too much for one person, but would be ideal for a specialized node.
Heh.

Looked like a cage at first. Things on spaceships are always looking strange, but they end up being economicle.

The cage is the framework or skeleton of the unit. Something I've realized is that most spaceships in movies and tv shows are built wrong, so I'm exploring how they should be built.

Cool
The Passenger movie looked like a nice ship. It's still rather annoying about oh hey I got more money then you so I can eat better then you. Put the rich in the shoes of those that aren't.

Re: [ARTS] Expendable's Little Blue Box
Wide open spaces like that make little sense in a ship, since one puncture and it all voids out. Without a genuine need, it's all wasted volume.
There's a very tight ship in the series "Another Life" that makes more sense. The geometry of the Jupiter II from the new Lost in Space has improved nicely.

Thank you. I'll probably repurpose this so it remains useful.
