Krayne, yeah, that's what I meant. Some organic things are super complicated to begin with, and making them out of nuts/bolts/pipes/whatever.

So i've been away for quite a while. Had a new job to adjust to and then moving house. Also been working for an indie I almost thought could finally trudge through the muck of obscurity... but it was not so and fell apart.

Anyway, Im back now, to show odd work that Ive done in my personal time and some stuff I did while on the indie game. Gonna get more active and hope I dont get obstructed again :D

Good choice!

I do love 3d Modelling! Takes me back to my 3ds max college days (Abeit I was nowhere near your skill level :P )

You have done some great stuff here!

The Detail in the lamppost is fantastic!

Suitably rusty/grimy!

Good job!

Thanks for the comments, I'll be finishing that Dodge Charger soon. Just been practicing my texturing for metal by making a Rifle. Quite happy with the way it turned out :D

I haven't tried a scifi gun yet. That was actually the first ever gun I've made :D . It's all good practice. I could've made it more detailed but I had to sacrifice detail for what would run in a game engine. I hope once I can achieve this with all parts of the environment. I can move onto my big ambitious project of recreating scenery from Judge Dredd. 'America' Issue specifically.
I want Judge Dredd world with propaganda and the hate from the citizens point of view, of dictator like Judges.

Hey Hey, back with more work, this time some architecture stuff. The team had been lacking in this area so I stepped in.

Modular pieces for making an old building

The rock looks great but the wood needs some work. Most likely will just use a concrete door frame instead.

After finishing that, in which we were able to make many iterations of buildings. I have started making some ruins.

I first start with a base mesh made out of simple shapes (in this case, lots of cubes for bricks) I then bring it into ZBrush where I can scratch, carve and add as much detail as I want. Once that is complete I bring it into DDO in Photoshop and also Substance Designer. Combining these three programs I can paint the model in textures that I feel work.

Thanks and more will be coming :D

Your work is always so intricately composed. I enjoy the shapes and textures which are skillfully sculpted. It's nice to see the progress. Is wood trickier than concrete? I'm guessing with all the swirls and rings, perhaps it might be difficult. The ruins look great thus far, I think. Very impressive the way you convey its depth and give it character with subtle moss, uneven bricks and a broken edge. All features ruins possess. Brilliant stuff as usual, Krayne. Can't wait to see more.

That is a lot of detail on those wall pieces, you add detail in zbrush? How big are these models and how long does that take you because omg the detail.

It actually didn't take as long as it looked. All of that in the video was in the better part of an evening. Just a few hours. All I did was make several bricks, then repeated them till I have a tile. With that one tile I then just peice it together to make walls, towers and what have you's Easy as lego when you get to that stage. All done within Maya.

Once they were made like that I have started going into ZBrush to do the proper detail and than painting the texture using a combination of other software.
So thats one model I already posted, the lo-poly is 410poly's big, so not that big but I baked all the detail to make it look like a hi-poly model.

Here is another model I just made and I shall be moving onto the next one soon.

Work got hectic and busy. Had to take a week off so I can focus on some of my personal work and update my website.

So YAY! Website updated, it's now all on one page that you can scroll through instead of clicking and loading pages. Its cleaner and my CV is also updated, cleaner and prettier
