you made a mini-steven?! that's fantastic!

what figure did you use as the base?

Thank you! And yes, I couldn't resist making one. I do want to do another one of his with his new outfit too.

I used a DIY Pop figure, so just a blank white one that you can buy, and just built him up from scratch.

Thanks! He is. Believe me it took a while to do. Basically he was made from scratch, so it was a lot of work, but so worth it!

His hair, and most of his body, including his clothes and rings around his upper arms, is actually white clay. I used DAS, it's called. So basically, molded the shapes onto him, and then I had to give the clay at least 24 hours to dry. The hair was an actual nightmare to do, especially with all the spikes, because they kept falling off. Plus, when I made his hair, he became slightly top heavy at first, so I had to stop him from falling over. Plus, when it came to sanding the hair down, the spikes kept falling off too. Was a lot of patience to do that believe me. lol. The rings on his fingers were just painted and drawn over in pen, well fine liner.

Yeah they sell them online, I got mine from Amazon. In fact, I need to order another one, in preparation for his new suit. Plus, they do female ones as well.

I'm usually pretty clumsy, but I'm quite tenacious. So when I want something, I won't rest until I finish it. I wanted one, so I made it :-) Yes he goes nicely in my collection of Steven merch.

There's a lot of niggly bits to it, especially as you have to keep sanding down the clay to make it smooth, otherwise the paint won't go in nicely.

In fact, I think I have some photos somewhere of what he started out looking like, because I did some photos of production so to say.

ooh, if you've got photos of you building him i'd love to see that

it's good to never give up, especially for the things you like or want to do, that spark of tenacity helps in pretty much anything

that's me right now with drawing/sketching, i'm enjoying it so much i don't want to give it up, so i find more excuses to draw like 30 day challenges (gotta draw at least two faces and the most terrifying pokemon... which is either giratina or mr. mime)

Thanks, it does show the change really well, from a mass of just white to the end product.

Thanks! Yes, I love Shadow! It's just the I don't care attitude that I find epic.

Mind you, trying to get the images to correspond on both shoes was a task believe me! However, they worked out really well in the end. I'm pleased with them.
