So I was attempting to do something as a surprise for someone but then I got confused with US Zip Codes.

Now I've only ever been given five digit zip codes but what I was trying to do last night added an extra five digits to the address I was using - can someone help me out with this?

I pulled out of what I was doing cause I got confused.

So, it was giving you a 10 digit zip code?

Each address has a full zip code. XXXXX-YYYY
The Xs are the postal code. The Ys are the specific postal address.

You only need the normal five digits to mail something.

Okay, the site I was on defaulted to the full zip code which I think is what confused me.

Yeah they do that on some websites but it's nothing to worry about send your surprise forth!!

Found an alternative way to get it but I know for future endeavours that its nothing to worry about.

I always ignore the last part. As Jason said it's unnecessary for mailing items.

I have noticed that it takes much longer for the system to update international dispatches. I do not often get parcels from oversea. But even though I have to admit that it takes much longer for such deliveries to arrive than the forwarder usually estimates. Possibly it is due to the delays at the customs. Otherwise, I have no idea what can be the reason for it. You should also track it on the site, but you should know how to navigate here to get update.
