Pre mobile phones, people could actually sit in a room and have an actual conversation without being needed to be surgically removed from their device.
"He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!" (Michael Palin in Monty Python's "Life of Brian")
"I am speaking UK English in a Sheffield accent!" (Me most of the time I'm on the landline or mobile)

When the nearest thing to social media was writing into popular magazines in the vain hope your letter would get printed.

And there was NO toxicity/trolling, except in the school Playground.

Nostalgia from another thread...

Back when teachers were allowed to beat kids with that long-ass ruler... Not paying attention? Goofing off and disturbing the class? *WHACK*! Ah, sweet silence....

Those were fun times. Ever notice how every teacher had one? Math? makes sense. Geography? Alright maybe.... Biology... well... obviously to... Even my PE teacher had one. I guess we were the reason they all had one... every beating was justified tho, we used to dare each other and take bets on how long it'd take before the smacking. Ah to relive those days...

Fortunately Corporal punishment was outlawed in the mid 70s.

It should never've been legal in the first place IMO.
