How to prevent massive fires:

1) Don't set fire to shit.
2) Stop people setting fire to shit.

I even now have a small wildfire in CT

Someone decided to have themselves a campfire in the small state park across the road....

Now it all smells like bonfire in a bad way and the only "main" road has smoke across it as they fight the fire...

California fires are as often a result of drought and extreme sun as they are of stupid people. So that'll help but it won't fully stop them

Of course.

Theres only so much you can do to mitigate a force of nature but plenty you can do to mitigate the stupidity of people.
