Every sport like hockey, basketball, football, etc, has its heroes and legends. The same applies to skateboard. The ones who help to move skateboarding from recreation to a part of mainstream life and culture are dedicated and talented skateboarders. Those people constantly try there best to master and perform brilliant tricks. They are the ones who add new colors to the skateboarding world.
There are thousands of skateboarders out there but not all of them are well-known worldwide, some of the names I’m going to list below are all the most famous in the world and are most respected in the half-pipe because they are in the red carpet.
Before I tell you the story of the three most famous skateboarders I just want to tell you that don’t try to be them, especially ones who have just started. It is impossible for a newbie to do tricks like a pro, so you should know who you are.
Robert "Bob" Burnquist
Bob Burnquist is a Brazilian skateboarder. He started skateboarding when he was just eleven years old. Four years later, he became a professional skateboarder. That's something that not many boarders can do. Winning the 2001 X-Games is probably the biggest achievement of Bob.
With his array of new and innovative tricks, he not only completed the performance excellently but also made the audience in awe. These tricks are so extraordinary that people can not call them by names. It was also thanks to these tricks that he earned the highest score from the evaluation committee and won the champion in the competition.
Rodney Mullen
He is also called “ the Mutt”. Rodney Mullen specializes in street skateboarding and is considered as one of the fathers of this skateboarding game. The special of street skateboarding is that it turns the urban environment into an art canvas and a physical challenge.
If you are playing this type of game, of course, you may know a very common and legendary trick which is called the Ollie. Do you know who invented it? It is Rodney Mullen. Having been a skater since the 1970s, Rodney is still strong, is still performing tricks and developing new skateboarding equipment. This legendary skateboarder has created more than 20 skateboarding tricks, but he shared he had forgotten more tricks than he invented.
You don’t need to always play tricks to become a skateboarding legend. In fact, there are many people who become well-known for their cruising skills. Start out with a good cruiser skateboard and see if this game is for you.
Tonny Hawk
The last person in this list is also the biggest name in the skateboarding community. That person is none other than Tony Hawk. He is not merely a great skateboarder but also a businessman, an athlete, and a showman. Tony Hawk is also considered as the holy grail of skateboarding tricks due to his incredible 900-degree aerial rotation trick.
He conquers not only the young crowds but also the elders from every corner of the world must admire his stunts, displays, and tricks. When talking about Tonny Hawk in the role of a captain of industry, his images and name appear on not just skateboarding products but also on video games, films, etc. As a multi-media mogul, Tonny Hawk contributes to turning skateboarding into the mainstream culture.
